And the Changes Keep on Coming

Today began in quite the normal quiet way. Then the work crews arrived. The next thing we knew, we were being asked to move so they could dig up the sight we were parked in. Suddenly and quickly we had to move....so we did...100 miles further west to a campground at the edge of the Black Hill Mountains.

We learned a lesson with that move. Do not pay campground fees in cash. We received only a partial refund for the month that we paid in advance. It made the four days pretty pricey. At least we got some of it.

The trip to the new campground was uneventful. Parking the camper was a challenge. We are sandwiched between a picnic shelter and a fence. My measuring was so good that the slide did not hit the fence and we were able to put the awning out over the shelter. This is now a really nice spot with shade trees and nice grassy areas.

We both like it here...and I'm glad we do. We are committed here for the next three months. As it turns out, this place was looking for help for the season...and we took the job. The site is free in exchange for hours worked. The scheduling is flexible so we can work around RTs hours. This seems like it will be a great place to get our first on the road work experience.

We are about 20 miles from Mt. Rushmore. We saw the monument this afternoon. Not only is it really impressive; but, the view away from the mountain is breath taking...(photos later)

We have a day or two to get familiar with the area before we go to work. A lot of what we'll be doing is helping visitors find places and decide what of the attractions to see. For once in my life, I can do all the "touristy" things without feeling chinsey...after all it's for work.
