Exploring we will go...

We spent the last two days exploring Rapid City, South Dakota. I like this town. It is just big enough to have everything and yet small enough to have really friendly people. I have been impressed with how polite most everyone is...even in Wal-Mart.

Our afternoon consisted of a nice walk ruined by a little white ball...yes, golf. Not an expensive course until you add in the cost of all the balls we lost into the water...and there was lots of water!! It was a way to spend a couple of hours.

Dinner was enjoyed at a restaurant in a converted freight warehouse. There was so much sports and trucking memorabilia inside that you could no longer see the walls. Great place and good food. That makes for a nice combination.

In the campground, the campers are parked about 15 feet apart with their doors facing each other. It is a great park for people traveling together. It also makes meeting people fairly easy. Tonight we got to know Jim and Judy a little better. They are from central Canada. We have been swapping "winter" stories. I think I will let them keep their 52 degrees below zero. That's a little too cold for me.

They visited Mt Rushmore today. In with all the other information that they gathered, they were told that 30,000 people per night are expected for the fireworks at the monument. I think we will do something else for the next two evenings...as far from there as possible!! We can hear the fireworks here in the campground. I'm sure that it's quite a show.

It looks like it will be Monday before we begin to work here. I feel guilty for taking his camping space before we get to work...but apparently we are part of the crowd since we received an invitation to the employees' picnic on Sunday night. Now I just need to decide what to take.
