Quite a day we had today in this Texas town. We headed out this morning looking for the Texas Energy Museum. The directions on the flyer were not good and we ended up lost.
Well, lost is not all together bad. We found a Mexican restaurant that was out of the "tourist" area. It was 11:45 and this place was already busy. That's two big pluses for a strange restaurant. The indicators were right. Good food.
Off again to find the museum...and what a museum we found. It was great. Lots to read. Lots of interactive displays. More information that I ever believed possible in one place about oil...what else? This is Texas...right? It was fascinating. Information overload hit about 30 minutes in but we still stayed for almost 3 hours. Great place. I would recommend it highly.
I thought of Salley Jabley while there. Sally graduated as a chemical engineer in the 70s and went to work for the oil companies. From what I heard, she was on an oil rig in the North Sea at one time. That would have been quite a job in the 70s and 80s.
