The old and the new

Well that was an interesting blog the first time out...it was blank. I guess Enter is not the right keystroke following the title!!

A day of contrasts.

The old...the passing of an art to a new generation. I began teaching crochet to a great-niece. She did rather well for a first try by a 10 year old. I did not realize that there were so many things going on with so many fingers when you crochet.

I though of when I first began crocheting. Having knitted since about age 10, I though crochet would be easily learned...Wrong. I never got the hang of it until the year my Nana died. Shortly after, I picked up a crochet hook and took to the art as if I had done it all my life. My Nana always crocheted. I still cherish the handkerchiefs she crocheted lace onto the edges of. It always seemed that I inherited that talent. I hope to pass it on more peacefully.

The new...Identifying an apple by the number on the sticker. When you buy two different kinds...which is new in itself...it can be hard to tell them apart by size or color. The product code labeled onto each piece makes the best identifier...if you pay attention to which number goes to which apple...yes, I noticed.

It is really cold here. A low last night of 30.8 degrees with a prediction tonight of 16. It's already 29 degrees....BRRRRRRR. Chester is even complaining.
