We ventured into New Orleans last night with friends. There were six of us. Boy were we tight in the truck...that really seats only four. I was just hoping that a state trooper did not choose to count heads and compare that to a seat belt count.
Counting heads would have been difficult since it rained (poured actually) on us all the way into the city. Realize now that going into New Orleans from where we are involves crossing a 24 mile causeway. With the wind and rain, that was quite a ride. I was glad for the extra weight in the truck...anything to keep us on that bridge!!
Our travels took us into the French Quarter...quite a place. Looks very much like all the pictures you see of it. It was neat to get to see it in person to know that it really looks like the photos you see.
We walked around several blocks, had dinner...yum, good food...and went to a concert of a visiting choir in the St Louis Cathedral, a really big impressive Catholic church. It was quite an evening.
Our evening ended with getting lost in New Orleans looking for the entrance to I-10W. I had wanted to see one of the cemeteries of the city..but not that late at night. It was still quite a sight even in the dark. Luckily we had a small map of the area we were in and found our way out safely..of course we did. We generally have lots of help on these "adventures".
Home again to find the power out in the park. Thank goodness for DC lights. We were not in the dark...but had no electric blanket. Sleep came soon after we snuggled close for warmth...maybe we'll skip the electric blanket for a few days!!
