There are times when sharing is just not a good thing. Take Monday at Lowe's. I was happily holding Rod's hand as we wandered through the isles when I managed to stub my toe...really hard.
Now you must realize that I have been working to grow out this toe nail all summer. It was just about to make it to the point that it would stop hurting...yes, they do finally stop hurting. When I hit my toe, I undid at least four months worth of growth...you get the picture.
Well, Rod got to share the pain with me. Remember I said that we were holding hands. It was more holding fingers and when that much pain hits you foot, the first thing you do is squeeze anything in your hand...really hard...Twice. I guess he had no chance to ignore me on that one!!
The shopping trip was completed uneventfully. The drive afterwards revealed areas of Rapid City that we had not yet found. Areas so isolated that it's hard to believe that anyone lives there. There were houses only every so often...100 acres or so apart. Some really nice houses on little rises with nice views of the valley...can you tell that I really like it out here.
We spent the rest of the afternoon rearranging computer equipment. This was one of those "I can't believe we're dong all this just to plug in the new printer" episodes. The new printer came out of the box at 11:00AM. It was up and running at about 5:00PM. This installation included a trip to Lowe's, a drive in the country, lunch and several hours of building a shelf and rearranging equipment.
that's one more job off the list...that we made in April when we moved in here. It feels good to have this job done.
The weather has really cooled down here. With lows in the forties and highs only in the seventies it is definitely like Fall. Several of the other workers are leaving at the end of the week and others next week. A farewell dinner is planned for Thursday. I think it's time or a true Southern peach cobbler for this group. That should send them off with a true taste of the South.
We should be on our way later this month. We are headed for Tennessee via Indiana. We hope to see the tour at the Keystone factory on our way. I'll keep you posted as the itinerary develops.
