I support the Black Hills Community Theater. Once a year they have a dinner theater fund raiser. We have attended, or attempted to attend, each of the last four years. We made it together the first year and this year.
The group always does a good job with the plays. This year they did the Dixie Swim Club. The story of four friends from college as they age for 50 years. Hit a little close to home... but was very funny at other times.
The fervent delivery of the reason Southern women bake biscuits was an outstanding moment. As the actress delivered the lines of how "every good Southern woman" makes biscuits to establish hearth and home... to comfort the family... and to just prove she is in control of the situation..." you could really tell there were several Southern women in the audience. The spontaneous cheers and applause attested to our presence.
I find it interesting how often this group does a play set in the South. At times I wonder if they would be interested in a consultant with first hand knowledge of the South... might be interesting.
At any rate, it was a wonderful evening out. Three plays remain in this season. We may have another evening or two enjoying this group.
