Sorry Mom... but remember that phrase "Dirty little Italians"? Well that's the best description I can think of for Naples. THis photo does not show it well. The city was cramped and being that cramped, dirty ... to say the least. 
We visited the National Museum. Learned a lot about the statues that you hear and see so much about in history. From what I could tell, these were the portraits of the time. These folks painted in stone. Even more interesting, they often took the bust from one stature and attached a new head and face... guess the original fell out of grace or was forgotten over time. The original recycling.
The work shown here as carved from a single piece of marble. It was amazing in its detail as were most of the works.
Had a few nice experiences as we wandered. A pasta shop so full that you could barely move from the front to the back. Learned why some pasta is black... it has squid in it. Have pasta with me... not the black stuff although I thought about it. It has been hand carried through four countries now... Wow is this stuff special!! Can't wait to taste it... or make ornaments out of it... or something other than carry it in my bag!!
