The Excitement Grows

I told you of the last concrete pour for our foundation walls. Here is what they look like now. All the lumber on top indicates 1) that I have been removing forms and 2) that the walls are set and strong. Both indications of good progress.

The next few days were spent installing the fresh water cistern, the water faucet and the pipes from the well. The cistern is pictured. This is now underground; however, it still is waiting for the waterproof coating to be applied to the inside...and guess who fits through the opening into it. Yep, yours truly. It's not so bad in there. At least it is not dark.

Here's Rod on the excavator. It was definitely good at what it did. It did in our two wheel drive on the way out of to the main road. One hill was just too steep with too much gravel. It took us almost an hour to unload, drive the excavator over the hill, drive the truck over the hill and reload the machine. It was smooth sailing from there. Now we know why everybody drives 4-wheel drive trucks around here.

The wonder of this area never ceases to amaze me. I hope that it never will. We spotted this owl hunting as we left tonight.

Off again tomorrow to finish the "shed" we are constructing for the power box, tools and items we have already for projects that need to be done. It's scheduled to be completed before Sunday...wish us luck!!
