We've Been Busy

Last Monday was moving day..finally!! Everything went very well. No problems pulling the camper in or getting it set up. I had worried about the truck's ability to get in on the roads. There are some steep hills that can be rough. We had a friend with a 4-wheel drive truck. Thank goodness we did not need his help. Our truck did fine even though it is only 2-wheel drive.

The photo is from 10 minutes after we arrived. Notice that the cats are still in the cage.

Since arriving we have finished the coating for the cistern. We are ready now to fill it with water from the well. The results from the water testing came back good. This water is safe to use...although it is a little sandy yet.

We started putting joists onto the foundation walls. This is the best work we have completed yet. The house really resembles a house now. Photos to follow soon.

I have been tutoring a student in Algebra 2. I now really understand the statement that I have forgotten more than he will ever learn. I'm surprised at how rusty I am at this...it has been 20 years...what do I expect. But it comes back quickly...I just have to study before I work with him. I had forgotten just how much I love the math and especially how much I like watching someone learn. That "light" of understanding in his eyes makes it all worth it. I'm hoping that this can grow into something on-going.

Early March and even here the trees are beginning to put on buds for new leaves. I would think this would be early for this far north. I guess not.

Lots of days with highs in the 50s and lots of sunshine. Days to work in shirtsleeves. It's nice when heavy clothing is not required.

We know a few more winter blasts are possible any time until about June. I asked for a warmer than usual Winter. The weather changed on December 20th. I am anxious to see what March 20th will bring...
