A wonderful weekend

After several days of snow and dreary weather, the weekend consisted on two days that could not have been more gorgeous. Crystal blue sky, highs in the 40s and very little wind. Not bad for a February day.

This weekend we finished the wiring for the camper and power needs during construction...covering the trenches that the wire is in from the pole to the house...had power poles installed along the road (we should have power this week!!)...cleaned out the crawlspace...started on the beams and sillplates that will support the floor joists. Sounds good...progress is still slow. But, as always, we're getting there.

The best part of the weekend came when we had a chance to get to know our neighbors a little better. John and Polly Preston have been in Box Canyon since 1979. They are currently building a house for their oldest daughter and her son within walking distance of our house. We are no longer the only ones who are building on the cul-de-sac. John interrupted his work to help us move a tree that was blocking installation of our power pole. Polly shared her homemade chicken noodle soup for lunch. I am looking forward to getting to know them and their daughter even better and to having a change to return the favors.

Monday will be a busy day. The panels for the house are scheduled to be delivered...the electrical inspector is coming by (although we got a verbal approval last week since we are not living in what we wired)...the power company should be out to set our pole, transformer and power box. I guess the crew that strings the wire will follow in a few days.

The weather is threatening to stop us for a few days. Temps to -15 at night with snow during the day until Friday. I'll let you know if the weatherman gets it right this time. Brrrrrrr!
