Oh What a night..

No it's not sweet September back in '84.. it was last night. We attended a Chamber of Commerce function that was WONDERFUL!! An evening of cooking demonstrations, good food and visiting with new friends. I learned a little about cooking with Vietnamese herbs and of the French influence on Vietnamese cuisine. I also learned that the young man doing the cooking... 30 something... did not know that the French occupied Vietnam until the 50's. He referred to the time as the early 1900s. History to him was life for most of us. I sound like my mother. I will never forget her saying that World War II was a major part of her teenage years. To me it was a chapter in a history book. I can only imagine how little is mentioned about it today. With age comes wisdom. Listen when someone older is kind enough to share it.
