Off to Schloss Neuschwanstein (that's Neuschwanstein Castle) the place that inspired Walt Disney's castle. You can see why. The castle has a strange and eerie history. Check it out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuschwanstein_Castle
Now for the good part... arrived at the hotel. Door locked. Phone and note to dial 9. Did so and a voice with a heave German accent gave instructions and buzzed the door open. No-one in the lobby. Room key (card) on a serving cart. No-one in any hallway... can you key the music for the Twilight Zone... we sure could. The room is right out of the 1960s. We would have left if it had not been paid for.... this is weird!!
No fear... found reasonable life a few hours later... and you though only Spaniards took siestas... no, I think it is a practice in this culture too. Lots to learn about these Germans.
One other thing... never expect food by the same name to be something you expect it to be. I'm hungry for beef. I think all they do with the cows around here is milk them. There is very little beef on restaurant menus and if it's there... it's hexpensive!!! This Ain't SD!!
So, I find meat loaf on the menu... right... good old ground beef. That will do. Surely the seasoning can't be that strange.... right!!! It was Spam!! Really... no beef in that slab of processed pig!! More careful I will be next time... or every bit as surprised. Wish me luck.
