More about Germany

We spent a lot of time driving in Germany. Travel on the back roads gave us a glimpse into German life. Lots of places for vacations and weekend getaways.

Did you ever wonder what the autobahn looks like? Here is a look at a good stretch. Most of it was new. A part was rough and windy through the mountains. That was not fun at 120 kph... but you had to move with traffic or risk getting run over!!

This is a view of the countryside. It's really pretty... although very much like places here in the States.

You'll notice the combination of the old and the new. The houses are build in a style we think of as typical "Swiss chalet". Yes, that is the style here; but these houses are far from old. New houses are built in the same style. Then you add to the scene the modern wind generators. They were everywhere and they were huge. If a little country like Germany can be this advanced in energy generation... why can't we??? Can you say big oil lobbyists???

More countryside along those little squiglie roads on the map. Rod was having such fun driving through the mountains. Lots of little towns, lakes, and waterfalls dotted our travels. Now, that's sightseeing!!!
