A time to reminisce.. the holidays seem to do that to me.
1981?? (about)... bought a turkey that was too big for the oven. Cooked with the door open... just a little. Didn't work very well. 5 hours later the little red thing still had not popped. Well, at least the outside layers were done when we finally gave up and ate.
2001 - "Popped" my first nail handling the turkey. Not as bad as it sounds. Threw it out... fried the turkey.
2007 - Joelene's squash casserole... yum!!! Along with the green beans, corn bread, and all the other vegie goodies at that meal.... Turkey?? what turkey??? It's like performing with children or animals.
2008 - Josey's wonderful mashed potatoes. Such a large bowl full that was EMPTY when dinner was finished... and there were not that many of us there. I guess it was the performance thing again.
2009 - Pumpkin pie already gone. That will teach me to buy it three days in advance. A bird that is nicely browned. Hoping it's cooked properly. May have it for breakfast since I've been up since 4:00 AM... no, not to cook the turkey. I'm just on Chester time today.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. May you find new memories today that you cherish for a lifetime.
