I give up!! I thought that I could cover the garden until Indian Summer came to keep it going. Then all the small squash and green tomatoes would ripen into an end of season feast.
My hopes are fading fast. 39 degrees tonight. That's after a high today of about 65 degrees. I have a daily debate now whether the garden will be better off covered and warm in the semi darkness or uncovered in the sunlight but cold...neither choice seems productive any more.
So I covered it again tonight. This may be the last time. I'll just eat small squash and green tomatoes then try again next year.
This is what my garden has looked like every night for at least two weeks now.
