A few days later, she stooped at her bowl of food and ate... like it was the most natural thing to do. I was thrilled!! The vet was guarded. She would not remove the tube until Lacey had been eating for at least a week on her own just in case she stopped eating again. Well, she didn't... and she still has not.
The tube came out a week later. All seemed well until... she started losing had in bunches!!! I have never seen hair loss like this. It was scary!!
Then suddenly, her hair started falling out at an alarming rate. She was funny looking at the worst... I'm talking a few bands and sprigs elsewhere. I laughed every time I looked at her. She did not care. By the look in her eye, she knew that she was beautiful. A tech at the clinic spotted the cause. When the body goes through extreme loss of nutrition, it will cease to feed the hair. This interrupts the normal shed/growth cycle and excessive hair loss occurs. Turns out she was right. The hair loss stopped after about two weeks. Lacey is now covered with short, silky fur.
She is not quite so funny looking any longer.
