Early April brings with it AES Superfest at Amateur Electronic Supply in Wilwaukee, WI.
We have attended for the past three years. This year was different for us.
First of all, we flew rather than driving. We decided that the price of the tickets was offset by the two days and two hotel rooms we would save. Besides, blizzards are an any time occurrence this time of the year. Last year we drove home white knuckled through snow drifts along I-90 for 300 miles. Not fun.
Flying was much better even with the extra baggage and carry on items.
During this event AES sponsors a "manufacturers' meeting". When we were a competitive dealer, we always imagined this to be a time when deals were struct and product or marketing decisions were made in favor of AES, one of the "big boys" in the industry. Now as a manufacturer, we know the truth... it is a Friday night fish fry dinner at the local Elks club... how different is that!!
It's a great time when the manufacturers' reps all get together to relax. Remember, most of us have known each other for close to 20 years. What's amazing is what we don't know about each other. I have learned many things about my friends in the past three years.
Seems I have friends... they just live all over the country.
