So why is it that I want to garden so badly in Zone 4??? Maybe it's that I have the space...maybe it's that pioneering spirit that makes me think I can do this...maybe it's just the challenge...
Whatever it is..I think I'm crazy.
With the spring weather here, I wonder how the settlers ever survived. No wonder they don't eat anything green. It wasn't until Walmart moved in that they ever saw green vegetables.
I just about get everything in the ground and coming up. So, what does the weather do... lows of 41 and highs of 65 with a week of clouds. The little plants really don't like that at all. I bet its something about the beans being in bloom...
So, I now have two make shift greenhouses. Once covering the squash. The other covering all the pots off the porch: tomatoes, lettuce, basil. The onions are not going to make it anyway...so they are not covered. I plan to replant those pots with spinach as soon as it gets warm again.
We'll see what the "greenhouses" do. I guess I'll keep trying. It is a challenge...definitely!!!
