What a surprise...
So, I get really creative and make a cold frame for my garden...cold my hind foot!!! It worked well until the sun came out today.
I decided that I better put a remote thermometer under that plastic to be sure I did not exceed the 90 degree mark I was told to watch for. So we started out this morning at 75 degrees under one and 54 degrees under the other...didn't seem that much cooler. Where I put my hand under the plastic, everything was warm and damp. really nice.
At noon I checked again...WOW 109.8 in one and 98 in the other...YIKES. Out I went to uncover everything. Hopefully it was not that hot for too long...who am I kidding.
The squash LOVED it. I think every seed germinated. The tomatoes are a little wilted. The basil and lettuce don't seem to have changed...can't seem to win with leafy greens.
Will over again this evening to trap all that wonderful warmth and moisture for the next three days with rain and more cold predicted....
What can I say...Spring in South Dakota.
