We knew when we were designing the radiant heating system that we were not quite sure about all the details.
We read the books...did all the calculations...and listened to everybody ask us if we really thought using just a hot water heater would work...the calculations said that it would.
Now we are finding out that there is a lot of difference between design of and proper working of this type of system. Between valve adjustments and back flow requirements for the pumps, we are finally overcoming the little things that nobody ever told us. The heat is beginning to work well without working itself to death.
Looks like by the time it is really cold again we will have this issue figured out...or at least will know where to look.
Something must be going right..besides our being more comfortable while we work, the cats seem to be content to sit with us as when the heat is running. It seems to put them at ease when the floor under them gets warm...and there is nothing nicer than a peaceful, happy cat.
