As I have said before when you eat at my house (or wherever I'm cooking), it can be an adventure.
Tonight my experimenting focused on the sauce for the dessert. The pound cake came out perfectly... we have vanilla ice cream (the frozen yogurt just would not do)... and cherries for a topping.
We had the cherries the other night over cheesecake and there were a lot left in the jar. So rather than purchasing raspberries, I decided to work with what I had.
Turns out they were sour cherries... good start. Packed in water with sugar... well that's almost a sauce. Some cornstarch for consistency (a little to much as usual)... then the fun began.
I wanted a kick... so out come the peppers... BTW, I experimented in small batches before attempting this on the entire pot... chili powder was the first try. Nice addition.. nutmeg did not help... allspice did. So I ended up with cherries with chili powder and allspice... no I don't know how much you really think I measured?!?!? Then the Grand Marnie.
Now it is perfect.. with a kick!!
