Pacificon

Off to Santa Clara, California and a show called Pacificon.

I don't know why I think Californians are somehow better than I am... but I do.  Especially going into Silicon Valley territory.  Well I found out that better was not the right word... different described them more accurately.

Several outstanding things happened on this trip.

The old adage  "the harder it is to get to a show, the better the show" made a really good showing.  First our flight into San Francisco was delayed for 2.5 hours.  We arrived in the radio at 5:00 PM.  What a mess!!!  Took over an hour to find the hotel.  So much for our relaxing afternoon.  We found out that the next day we would have been stranded at the airport in Denver.  The adage would have gotten us even worse if we had waited.  Glad we didn't!!

So, finally setup and the first day of the show went well.

We talked with two companies about writing software for new radios.  Both are working with commercial radios which will take us in a different direction... similar; but definitely a different market.

We had dinner at a WONDERFUL restaurant.  Never had purple cauliflower before.  I tastes the same just makes an impressive presentation.  We plan to visit there again next year.

We met Mr Wizard.  I realize this means nothing to any of you.  Mr. Wizard has prompted us firmly through e-mails for years to make changes to the programmers.  He is incredibly impatient with any issue found in the software.  He has been "difficult" to say the lease.  He told me weeks ago that he would be there... my life went downhill from there!!!

So here he is for all posterity...  Really a nice guy.. just type A++++  It's nice now to have a face behind the mail.

I'll go back next year.  Actually, once all was done, I'm looking forward to that one.. I get to flirt with Gordon all weekend!!
