Back on the road and home again between blogs...
Left here Saturday morning, October 11 after pouring concrete on Friday. Friday was a harder day than expected. Saturday we left later than expected...you think there was a connection?!?!
Day 1...ended up in St Joseph, MO (about 80 miles from Kansas City which was our goal). Not too bad for a late start and lots of stops with the dog. The dog traveled well. Slept most of the time. Wanted to have his nose out the window every time we stopped. Lots of stops for potty breaks...his and ours. Really made the traveling easier.
Day 2..."Do I have to get back in the car?" Not only the dog; but both of us were thinking this. This is a hart trip in two days. Arrived Huntsville, AL early evening...Yea. Stopped for at least a while.
Day 3...On to LaGrange. Left Rod in Huntsville. Took the dog with me to LaGrange. Trip was uneventful other than I almost could not remember the way...I guess it has been longer than I thought.
We each spent a week helping our parents recover. Saw a great deal of success by week's end.
Sunday morning...Off toward home. Tuesday afternoon...home!!! Yea!! The trip is easier in 2.5 days rather than 2. Keep that in mind if you plan to come this way. It's really worth the price of the extra hotel room.
Just be sure you slow down once you're on Hwy 79 coming out of Rapid City toward Hermosa. The speed limit is only 65MPH not 75 as it is on I-90. The State Trooper was sure to tell us that..then nice enough to give only a Courtesy Warning (what a strange title for it) when he could see that we had been traveling...could probably smell it too with 3 days worth of dog in the car...whew!!!
Things getting back to normal here. The heat that was off unexpectedly while we were gone is working now. Seems when the water cooled it contracted and pulled air into the system. Adding some water took care of things...at least we did not have to drain the system...that would have been work!! Warm and comfy and our own bed...the finer things of life.
On to a busy day.
