For years we have invited folks to visit us here in the Black Hills. I knew that one day those invitation would pay off. I never dreamed that it would be in the same week.
Tuesday saw the unexpected arrival of Astor, Rod's uncle from Alabama. An advid rock hound, AStor has always wanted to find the Fairburn aggett fields that are a few miles south of us. He and Rod took time Wednesday to find the area. Unfortunately, it is no longer accessible with a motorized vehicle. They decided the walk was not worth it for one afternoon. Now that he knows where it is though, we are liable to see him for a week at the time as he explores it more.
Astor stayed with us until Thursday morning. He left headed for the Yellowstone river in western Montana. We wish him safe travels and lots of luck in his search for rocks.
