Food

As I reflect on my sister's birthday, I think about all the help she gives me about my garden. This is a challenge for her since I live in Zone 4 while she is in Zone110+++ Anything she puts in the ground grows... I work over everything I plant and feel a great deal of satisfaction if it survives more than one year.

I'm still looking forward to having my own food production.

I have a friend who I get to visit with often who is well versed in the "poisons" we ingest from our foods. I must admit that at first I listened with only one ear to her discussions. Then I started reading labels....

Holy Moly!!! Why is it that something as simple as sour cream...well maybe that's not that simple... must have ingredients that I cannot pronounce...spell or understand? Shouldn't it just be milk and cultures?

What do all those chemicals do? I realize that some are preservatives... but do they also preserve us? Why do we bother to spend so much on refrigeration if everything is chemically treated anyway?!?!?!

So now I'm on a new campaign. I'm determined to learn more about those chemicals. Are they poison? What might they be doing to our bodies? Do I really want to know? What do you want to bet I have a hard time finding out?

This discussion will continue....
